Freudenberg notes more competition among employers for top trainees
ERJ staff report (DS)
Weinhaim, Germany -- Freudenberg group has taken on anoter 107 young people as apprentices this week. The group wanted to offer anoter 10 places, but found that the number of applicants has fallen and the competition among employers for the best candidates has increased.
"In the present global economic crisis, we continue to stand by our social responsibility to help young people embark on their careers. For Freudenberg, vocational training is and will remain an important investment in the future," Management Board Speaker Dr. Peter Bettermann commented.
Freudenberg said it would have been able to offer a further ten apprenticeships this year, but the number of suitable candidates has fallen. Freudenberg is noticing that competition in the region for the best applicants is becoming tougher. "It is a pity we have not been able to fill all our vocational training places. However, we will continue our efforts to overcome this trend through numerous initiatives and cooperation projects with schools in the region," Dr. Rainer Kuntz, head of the Vocational Training Center, said.
