Pirelli recalls 1680 PZero Corsa tyres in US for tread, belt separation
ERJ staff report (TB)
Washington DC -- Pirelli Tire LLC has recalled 1680 PZero Corsa tyres, size 285/35 ZR19 (99Y) K1, for possible tread and belt edge separation.
The tyres, manufactured between June 2007 and July 2009, are specified for the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Scuderia Spider 16M vehicles, Pirelli told the US-based National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in a Sept. 1 letter. When those vehicles are driven at speeds above 168 mph, the recalled tyres can develop belt edge and partial tread separation, leading to a crash, the tyre maker said.
As of Sept. 3, Pirelli had not provided NHTSA with a schedule to notify consumers and replace the tyres, the agency said. In its letter, Pirelli requested as a matter of course an assignment of a notification campaign number to accompany the recall notice to tyre buyers.
