Lanxess marks 100th anniversary of rubber's invention

Cologne, Germany -- On Saturday 12 September, over 400 guests attended a ceremony to mark 100 years to the day since chemist Fritz Hofmann invented methyl rubber.
The programme saw a series of presentations from politicians, engineers and business leaders discussing the contribution of synthetic rubber to society over the years.
Key speakers included Dr Axel Heitmann Chairman of Lanxess AG; Dr Hwi Joong Kim, President and Chief Technical Officer of Hankook Tire; Didier Miraton, managing partner of the Michelin Group and Dr Ernst Osen, head of materials development of Freudenberg & Co.
