ElringKlinger focuses on engine downsizing and CO2 reduction
ERJ staff report (DS)
Dettingen/Erms, Germany -- Under the heading "Going for Green", ElringKlinger's activities at the IAA 2009 motor show will be centered around new technical solutions aimed at significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
The company is focussing on new engines with smaller displacement, but increased turbo charging. This so-called "downsizing", in combination with the use of more lightweight materials, increased injection and combustion pressures as well as higher temperatures, is seen as a promising way of cutting CO2 emissions.
