SaarGummi Czech points to automotive investment

Cerveny Kostelec, Czech Republic --Â Automotive parts supplier SaarGummi Czech is expanding production at its plastics and rubber components plant in Cerveny Kostelec, Czech Republic in support of its German customer Daimler.
SaarGummi is investing Euro 3.95m to launch production lines to turn out sealing systems for the window guide mechanism for use in a new Mercedes-Benz model due to be introduced in the market in 2011.
The SaarGummi Czech investment will be made over the coming few months and the plant expansion project is due to be completed later in 2010. The company plans to hire an extra 80 workers to enable it to fulfil the Mercedes-Benz order. It already employs more than 500 at the Cerveny Kostelec facility.
The company is a subsidiary of SaarGummi Technologies of Schengen, Luxembourg which specialises in manufacturing polymer and thermoplastic elastomer based products. These include a range of auto sealing system profiles for the windscreen, side and rear windows, doors, trunk and hood as well as vehicle mouldings.
Among other major group automotive customers are BMW, Ford, GM Opel, Porsche, Fiat and Skoda. SaarGummi Technologies, with 2008 annual sales of Euro 410m, operates other component plants in Germany, Croatia, Slovakia, Spain, India, Brazil and the US.
The group employs around 3 600.
