Michelin agrees PPK contract with GSE Haulage
ERJ staff report (RD)
Stoke-on-Trent, UK - Construction and land remediation company GSE Haulage has agreed a pence per kilometre (PPK) contract with Michelin to use its tyres, Michelin announced 23 Sep.
Michelin XZE 2+ and XDY 3 tyres will be used GSE's fleet of 20 Scania tippers, used on and off-road in construction and quarry sites, to provide “mileage potential and resistance to damage,†Michelin said.
“The biggest issue for hauliers such as ourselves is productivity,†said Ricky Hemmings, managing director of Kent-based GSE Haulage. “This means getting the best return from vehicles, especially in the current economic climate by maximising fuel savings, cutting downtime and reducing overall running costs.â€
“Our business is growing rapidly and Michelin is helping us do this, which when linked to other aspects of vehicle management has seen our productivity increase by 15 per cent,†Hemmings added.
The PPK structure allows GSE to own its Michelin tyres, without the up-front cost of outright purchase, the statement added.
