DuPont, Fenner Precision win 2009 Innovation Awards

National Harbor, Maryland -- DuPont Co. and Fenner Precision Inc. have won the 2009 Polyurethane Innovation Awards at the Polyurethanes 2009 Technical Conference, held Oct. 5-7 at National Harbor, just outside Washington, D.C.
DuPont won in the Polyurethanes Chemicals category for Cerenol, a new family of engineered, renewably sourced polyetherdiols that serves as a soft segment ingredient for polyurethanes. Fenner Precision received the Finished Product Award for designing and developing a polyurethane tank tire wheel for the U.S. military's Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
Finalists for the awards included Foam Supplies Inc. for its Ecomate blowing agent; Polymate-INBC for developing two-component binders that combine the mechanical properties of with the chemical resistance of epoxy binders; BASF Corp. for a light-stable aliphatic polyurethane skylight for residential and commercial applications; and Icynene Inc. for its Icynene LD-R-50 water-blown spray foam insulation.
