Freudenberg-NOK to close plant in Iowa

Plymouth, Michigan -- Freudenberg-Nok General Partnership is to close the manufacturing and distribution operations of its Merkel Freudenberg subsidiary in Spencer, Iowa. The decision will result in the permanent closing of the Spencer site.
Merkel-Freudenberg makes rod seals, piston seals guides and other products aimed at the fluid power and fluid cylinder market, as well as specialised seals for the mining, machine tool and metal-forming industries.
The company said it could not say how many employees would be affected. Some wil relocate to other factories, while others wil continue at Spencer to help wind down operations there. Productino will be transferred to other facilities in Troy, Michigan and Milan, Ohio.
