ERJ staff report (DS)
Jakarta -- Members of the the International Tripartite Corporation (ITRC) have quietly agreed to lift controls on exports of natural rubber, according to local sources. The three members of the ITRC -- Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia -- reportedly made the informal agreement earlier in the year, following increases in the price of rubber on international exchanges.
A report in the Malaysian Insider quotes Yamanah , an export director at Indonesia's trade ministry, saying, “Although there is no official agreement to end the export cut, the three countries silently stopped the programme in the second half."
The paper also contacted, "A senior Malaysian government official, who declined to be named," who reportedly confirmed that export curbs had been informally removed.
