Fall in NR supply accelerates - ANRPC
ERJ staff report (DS)
Kuala Lumpur -- The decline in global production of natural
rubber is accelerating, said the ANRPC in its monthly bulletin, based on data up to September of this year.
Total output in the ANRPC's seven member countries fell 5.1 percent in the 12 months to September 2009 as compared to the 12 months ended December 2008. These countries account for 93 percent of global NR supply.
China's output increased by 99 kt, or 38 percent in the first nine months, while every other member country reduced its output, resulting in a net reduction of around 500 kt so far this year.
