Freudenberg CIP/SIP seals use nanotechnology
ERJ staff report (DS)
Weinheim, Germany -- Freudenberg Process Seals has developed a range of sealing materials designed for CIP/SIP applications. These EPDM-based materials offer performance up to 180°C, and 210°C for short periods, as well as good steam resistance.
Freudenberg said, "Regardless of whether they are used for O-rings, flap seals, or diaphragms, the outstanding properties of the new generation of EPDM materials are available in three different degrees of hardness:• 60 EPDM 290• 70 EPDM 291• 85 EPDM 292.
The company said 70 EPDM 291 is aimed at static sealing applications. Where dynamic loading is required, the company offers a reduced-friction RFN (Reduced Friction by Nanotechnology) coating. Freudenberg claims this coating reduces the coefficient of friction for the total life of the component
The harder 85 EPDM 292 can also be used for dynamic sealing applications, while 60 EPDM 290 has been specially designed for diaphragms.
