IRSG issues report on NR planting surge
Tire Business staff report
Singapore - A surge in natural rubber (NR) planting over the past five years will result in 50 percent greater world NR supplies by 2020, according to a new report issued by the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG).
The report addresses the surge in NR planting over the past five years in the 11 Asian countries that together supply 92 percent of the world's natural rubber, according to an IRSG press release. The report states that new NR planting in 2008 was at six times the level as occurred in 2000, with more than 1 million hectares (2.47 million acres) planted in Hevea trees between 2005 and 2008.
IRSG member governments and members of the IRSG Panel of Associates may download the complete report now from the group's Web site. For non-members, the price of the document is 1 500 Singapore dollars ($1 072 US).
