Trelleborg profits rise on reduced Q3 sales

Stockholm, Sweden -- Trelleborg AB saw operating profit increase to SEK 371 million (Euro 35.8 million) for the three months ended September 2009, compared with SEK 263 million a year ago. Sales for the period declined to SEK 6,559 million from SEK 7,527 million.
For the nine months sales fell to Net sales SEK 20,303 million from SEK 23,920 million. Operating profits also fell to SEK 576 million from SEK 1,174 million a year ago.
The company said, "“Demand in many segments remained weak during the quarter. Despite this, the Group's operating margin improved, which demonstrates that the measures we have taken to adapt capacity have yielded effects. Effective management of working capital and a sequential improvement in earnings meant that we continued to generate a strong cash flow."
