Top-end TPMS system wins award
ERJ staff report (DS)
Cologne, Germany -- A novel infra red tyre temperature and pressure monitoring system (IRTPTMS) from Beru f1systems has been selected as the 2009 Testing Technology of the Year at the Professional Motorsport World exhibition. A highly regarded judging panel, including an ex-F1 driver and engineers, as well as senior figures from across motorsport, selected the DigiTyre IRTPTMS from Norfolk-based Beru f1systems to receive the award at the Cologne show.
DigiTyre IR allows, for the first time, engineers to acquire accurate and true tyre carcass temperature. It provides a raft of information for engineers in F1 and other series to optimize vehicle setup and tyre wear. “Every single system on a racing car is there for one reason; to get the most out of the tyre,†says Charles Armstrong-Wilson, a member of the judging panel.
Beru offers advanced design and manufacturing facilities for vehicle wiring harness systems, tyre pressure monitoring, stress measurement and composites. Supplied to world championship winning cars in every major formula including Formula 1, components from Beru f1systems are now available in military, road car, aerospace and nautical applications.
