Apollo calls for entries for off-road driving challenge

Gurgaon, India - Apollo Tyres is calling for entries into its “Apollo Flight of the Hawkz†seven episode driving challenge in collaboration with the National Geographic Channel scheduled to air in March 2010, the company said 11 Nov.
Using the company's 4x4 Apollo Hawkz range of tyres, the driving challenge will test the mental, physical, driving, outdoors and safety skills of 12 participants, the company said.
“Apollo Flight of the Hawkz will have a green focus,†said Neeraj Kanwar, managing director of Apollo Tyres. “We are working with environment specialists to ensure that we do not contribute any further to Apollo Tyres and Nat Geo's existing carbon footprint, but work to bring it down substantially.â€
The route for the challenge will include the Lavasa to Goa stretch in Western India, which covers forests, hills, beaches, dirt and mud tracks and river crossings, the company commented.

Selections will take place in 2010 on 10 Jan in Delhi, 17 Jan in Kolkata, 24 Jan in Bangalore and 31 Jan in Mumbai.
