Goodyear researcher receives DuPont award for Kevlar work

Akron, Ohio - Kevin Westage of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has received a DuPont award recognising the “commercialisation of an impactful new technology,†a 11 Nov Goodyear statement said.
The lead engineer in Goodyear's Global Material Science Group, Westage and three DuPont colleagues are being recognised with DuPont's 2009 Bolton/Carothers Innovative Science Award for advancing hybrid cord technology, featuring DuPont Kevlar followed by successful commercialisation in multiple tyre designs, the statement said.
The other recipients of the award are Florencio Gopez of DuPont Technologies R&D, and Mark Lamontia and Ted Diehl of DuPont Engineering Technologies.
The award presentations will take place 9 Jan 2010 at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
