IRSG appoints Evans to succeed Smit as secretary general
ERJ staff report (RD)
Singapore - The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) has announced that Stephen Evans will officially take up the post of secretary-general on 1 Jan 2010, replacing Hidde Smit.
Evans, who has been involved in the elastomer industry for the past decade, has worked for both Shell and later Kraton Polymers where he was most recently Business manager for the EMEA (Europe / Africa / Middle East) area.
With his qualifications and strength in biology gained from his academic days and work experience at Kew Gardens, Evans is able to “readily relate to the issues facing the rubber growing industry plus its environmental challenges and opportunities,†a 16 Nov IRSG statement said.
With his background in the synthetic elastomer area, Evans comes with a strong awareness of the industry, analytical skills including scenario planning and, as a former committee member, a close involvement with the IISRP, the statement added.
