ETRMA welcomes tyre labelling legislation
ERJ staff report (DS)
Brussels -- ETRMA and its 12 tyre-making corporate members welcome the objectives of the mandatory tyre labelling requirement, with respect to fuel efficiency, wet grip performance and external rolling noise. This 2nd reading vote occurred in the plenary session of the European Parliament, after the endorsement of the text by the Council of 20th November.
Fazilet Cinaralp, Secretary General, said the measure will encourage tyre manufacturers to upgrade their products in a context of increased competition on the tyre market, by introducing a level playing field for all with the possibility for producers to benefit from product differentiation, not only based on prices but also on product quality. The consumers will have access to objective, reliable and comparable information on tyre parameters.
