CAS wins funding for non-contact cure-state test
ERJ staff report (DS)
Reinbek, Germany -- CAS Computerunterstützte Automatisierungssysteme GmbH & Co. KG (CAS) has won a grant of over euro 200 000 to help develop a non-contact test for the cure state of rubber materials during vulcanisation.
Initially the project is aimed at the tyre industry, and is expected to be developed within two years. There seems little reason why such a system could not easily be adapted to other rubber industry application.
CAS is based in Reinbeck, in the Schleswig-Holstein region of germany, and the funds have come from the region's Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer GmbH (WTSH) unit. Dr. Bernd Bösche, head of the WTSH said if succesful, then the development would give CAS a significant advantage over other businesses, leading to jobs and investment in the region.
