Schäfer consolidates businesses into SchäferRolls

Rennigen, Germany -- Schäfer is to merge its roll-covering businesses into a single entity known as SchäferRolls from 1 January 2010.

Schäfer Composites GmbH and Schäfer GmbH & Co. KG are to merge into the single company which will be known as SchäferRolls GmbH & Co. KG. All staff will transfer under the same employment conditions.

The merger of the two companies brings the competence of SchäferRolls, as a cover

manufacturer, roll service and complete roll supplier into one legal entity. The merger is

intended to further reinforce the position of SchäferRolls on the international markets and

contribute to the standardisation of the business processes. Internal and external

administrative processes, as well as technology and development projects, are coordinated

with one another and further improved, for the benefit of the partners and customers.

Since 1946, SchäferRolls has been producing polymer-based precision roll covers. The plants in Renningen (Germany), Kranj (Slovenia) and Farmington, NH (USA), covering a production area of more than 25,000 square metres, currently

employ a workforce of over 250. Production technology and processing facilities are able to handle

and service roll systems
