Yokohama claims Thai tyre factory is zero emission

Chonburi, Thailand -- Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd.,said it has achieved "zero emissions" - that is, landfill disposal was less than 1 percent. Yokohama Rubber conducted on-site investigations of all contractors commissioned to dispose of waste from the plant, confirming the zero-emissions result.
Yokohama said its existing eight plants in Japan operate on the same zero emission standard, while five of those plants also operate a policy of complete recycling of their waste. The company is working toward all factories attaining zero emissions, and has commenced full-scale plans to achieve this by the end of financial year 2011.
Yokohama further has a policy of planting trees to offset its carbon emissions.
