EC to tighten TPMS requirements from 2015
ERJ staff report (DS)
Brussels -- The EC is set to reject advice from its working party in UNECE on technical specifications for tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). Instead it will impose stricter limits.
The EC intends to propose a stricter set of limits on the technical requirements of TPMS from November 2015, three years after the initial proposal comes into force in 2012.
Although the initial requirement is for a pressure differential of 20 percent from nominal, the stricter limits will require a warning at just 15 percent deflatino from nominal.
The proposal is due to be diiscussed aat a meeting scheduled for 16 December.
