Pirelli collaborates with Marangoni on tyre retreading
ERJ staff report (RD)
Milan, Italy - Pirelli Tyre and Marangoni, an Italian tyre manufacturer based in Rovereto, Italy, have signed a collaboration agreement for retreading of heavy vehicle tyres, a 4 Dec Pirelli statement said. The announcement "reinforces" a previous agreement signed in 2003 for Europe, and more recently South Africa.
For Europe the new agreement, which is part of the strategy by Pirelli to enlarge its the supply of services by Pirelli Truck, "foresees" the supply by Marangoni of Novateck marked pre-cured bands, manufactured with the original Pirelli tread design. The project aims to add value to new products in Pirelli's 88 Series and 01 Series, launched on the European market in 2009, Pirelli said.
According to Pirelli, the pre-cured bands will be produced by Marangoni in its factories in Hamburg, Germany and Ferentino, Italy, and will be available with five different types of compound, "each developed specifically for the segment of use," the statement said.
The agreement forms part of the Pirelli Lifecycle Management concept, a tyre value adding programme which aims to reduce operational cost-per-kilometre and environmental impact, the statement added.
