Goodyear recalls 11,994 Dunlop commercial trailer tyres in US
ERJ staff report (TB)
Washington DC -- Goodyear is recalling 11,994 Dunlop SP193 commercial trailer tyres, size 295/75R22.5.
The tyres were all manufactured at the Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America Ltd. plant in Tonawanda, N.Y., between Jan. 24 and May 29, 2010, the tyre maker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
A review of field reports completed Aug. 24, 2010 convinced Goodyear that a processing problem in the Tonawanda facility might cause up to 4 percent of the subject tyres to experience sudden air loss, Goodyear told NHTSA in an Aug. 30 letter.
Goodyear said it will notify all owners of record of the possible defect and perform visual inspections of the tyres. Those the Akron-based tyre maker determines to be defective will be replaced free of charge, it said.
Sept. 30 is the approximate start date of the recall. Owners of the tyres may call Goodyear at 800-321-2136.
