Trelleborg Automotive opens Russian AVS plant

Nizhny Novgorod, Russia -- Trelleborg Automotive has opened a new manufacturing facility in Zavolzhye, near Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The facility, which will produce Trelleborg's anti-vibration solutions, is the company's first production facility in Russia and has been opened to meet increasing demand from its Russian-based customers.

Jim Law, President of Trelleborg Automotive's anti-vibration division, commented: The Russian car industry returned to growth in the second quarter of this year and car sales are projected to double by 2015, returning to pre-recession levels.

The new facility, which is wholly owned by Trelleborg, includes a number of rubber presses and is set to continue to grow as the company plans to expand the current production within the next year.

Law continued: The increasing demand for new cars in Russia, along with government initiatives for Russian-based car manufacturers to source locally-manufactured components, means that many globally recognised car manufacturers are opening production facilities in the country.

Roman Antipov, Commercial Manager for Russia, Trelleborg Automotive, added: As a consequence, were seeing an increasing demand for our anti-vibration solutions. Nizhny is, arguably, the car manufacturing centre of the country and is an ideal location for our new facility. Were able to provide the high levels of service that can only be achieved with close geographic proximity.
