Michelin launches robust tyre for largest harvesters
ERJ staff report (DS)
Paris -- Michelin has announced the worldwide launch of the MegaXBib tyre for harvesters in a new size - 800/70R32. Intended for today's biggest, heaviest harvesting machines, the new-size tyre will have a 181 A8/B load rating, the highest of any tyre made using conventional technology.
Michelin said the tyre is exceptionally robust thanks to its exclusive metal crown plies. Michelin technicians have also redesigned the MegaXBib's tread and shoulders to reduce crop stubble damage caused either by piercing (corn stalks) or by erosion (soybeans and sunflowers).
To increase the tyre's load capacity and robustness, Michelin has integrated metal plies into the crown. This exclusive technology makes the tyre more resistant to fatigue caused by heavy loads, helping to improve productivity and lower operating costs while reducing the risks of vehicle downtime and shortened tyre life due to breakage.
