Kingsport, Tennessee -- Eastman Chemical Co. is discontinuing production and supply of two ortho-phthalate plasticisers, Eastman DEP and Eastman DBP.
The company said its recent acquisition of the Benzoflex family of benzoate plasticisers and the launch of Eastman DBT non-phthalate plasticiser gives it a broad offering of non-phthalate alternatives in the fast-fusing, high-solvating segment.
The DEP and DBP plasticisers no longer fit with the firm's strategic growth plans, Eastman said. The company will continue to make and deliver them until the end of the year.
