Nebraska gives money to tyre recyclers
ERJ staff report (DS)
Lincoln, Nebraska -- Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is awarding $1.15 million to support 63 tyre recycling and cleanup projects across the state. The money comes from a $1 per tyre disposal fee.
Mike Linder, director of Nebraska's DEQ said Nebraskans generate over one and a half million scrap tyres each year, about one tyre for every person in the state. The grants will help prevent public health and environmental problems by eliminating tyre piles, Linder said.
