Michelin recognises suppliers with first quality award event

Clermont-Ferrand, France -- On June 15, Michelin presented awards to four of its suppliers in recognition of their exceptional contribution in 2010. Held in Clermont-Ferrand, the ceremony followed a rigorous assessment of the Group's portfolio of suppliers. Michelin said it plans to hold similar ceremonies in the future on an annual basis.
A Special Prize was awarded to carbon black and silica manufacturer Evonik, for the excellence of its relationship with Michelin, in terms of product quality, innovation and service levels.
In addition, three suppliers received the Quality Prize for their outstanding quality performance, in compliance with the Group's highest standards.
Lanxess Polybutadiene Rubber, a chemicals manufacturer, in the Raw Materials and Energy category.
Gonzales Frères, a precision machinery manufacturer, in the Industrial Procurement category.
Mediaedge/KR Media, a media agency, in the Service Procurement category.
The four suppliers were presented with a trophy by Jean-Dominique Senard, co-Managing General Partner of the Michelin Group, in the presence of several members of the Group Executive Council, the Chief Purchasing Officer and Chief Quality Officer. .
The Michelin Group, whose annual purchases represent nearly 60 percent of consolidated revenue, strongly believes that its suppliers are key partners in its success. Attesting to this commitment to sustainable, efficient collaboration, in late 2010, Michelin received the Award for Excellence in the Supplier Relationship Management category from the European Institute of Purchasing Management (EIPM).
