Michelin exhibits at Paris Air Show
ERJ staff report (DS)
Paris -- The Paris Airshow this year features the Solar Impulse, a visionary project led by Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg. This lightweight solar-powered aircraft made aviation history in July 2010 when the aircraft completed its first flight - lasting 24 hours, non-stop - powered by solar energy. It is fitted with Michelin tyres.
On May 8, 2011, Michelin Aircraft Tyre and Solar Impulse
SA signed a specialised partnership contract. The purpose
of the agreement is to develop, produce and test tyres for
a second aircraft (HB-SIB). Solar Impulse, fitted with Michelin tyres, will be presented
for the first time at the Paris Air Show. Visitors will be able
to get a close-up look at this revolutionary aircraft and
admire it in flight every morning from June 20 to 26 (weather
permitting).
