JSR employees support earthquake relief efforts

Tokyo -- JSR Corp. is supporting its employees' volunteer activities by using the Leave for Volunteer Activities System in areas damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
JSR has established "Basic Approach to Social Contribution" and announced its corporate stance in support of its employees' participation in voluntary social contribution activities in January 2009, and introduced the Leave for Volunteer Activities System in April 2009.
As the relief efforts have gained momentum, the need for volunteers has increased. JSR said in a statement, that it "has decided to recommend that its employees participate in this program by taking the volunteer leave system. To encourage their participation, JSR will cover all the actual expenses (transportation, accommodation, etc.) accompanying their participation in the program."
The company estimates tat 80 staff will each spend two separate weeks during July on volunteer activities, with more contributions later in thhe year.
