EU lifts sanctions on Côte d'Ivoire rubber group
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Brussels - The European Union has lifted the remaining restrictions on the Côte d'Ivoire Association of Natural Rubber Producers (APROCANCI) in order to support the economic recovery of the African country.
The Council of the European Union decided to lift the EU assets freeze from APROCANCI, National Electricity Management (SOGEPE) and Ivorian Radio and Television (RTI) on 27 June, the Council said in a statement.
The sanctions on firms loyal to former leader Laurent Gbagbo were imposed earlier in the year to pressure him to step down. The asset freeze measures were first eased in April, when the Council lifted the freeze on four entities on 8 April, followed by a further six companies on 29 April.
