Smithers Rapra names VP of North American operations

Akron, Ohio - Rikki Lamba has joined Smithers Rapra as vice president of North American operations, the rubber and plastics research consultant said in a 28 June statement.
In his role Dr Lamba will concentrate on the expansion of Smithers' current technologies, as well as the development of new markets where these technologies can be used.
Prior to his appointment, Dr Lamba worked for Excel Polymers, a global supplier of custom elastomeric solutions such as rubber compounding, rubber chemicals and services. Prior to Excel, he was vice president of technology at Columbian Chemicals.
“I am confident that with Rikki's leadership, we will successfully achieve our goals in 2011 and beyond,†commented James Downey, president of Smithers Rapra.
Lamba holds a PhD in polymer science from the University of Akron, Associateship from the London School of Polmer Technology and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Bombay in Mumbai, India.
Akron-based Smithers Rapra is a multi-discipline independent testing, research and consulting firm for the tyre, rubber, plastics and medical industries among others.
