Bridgestone raising truck, OTR, retread prices in N. America

Nashville, Tennessee -- Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations raised prices today in the US and Canada on Bridgestone- and Firestone-brand truck and bus tyre products, Bandag-brand retreads and related retreading materials by an average of 11 percent.

The company also will raise prices of Bridgestone, Firestone and Continuum OTR tyre products and tread rubber by the same amount on Aug. 1, according to Bridgestone Commercial Solutions, the company's business unit for commercial tyre products.

“Volatile market conditions continue to provide many challenges to the transportation industry, and Bridgestone Commercial Solutions is certainly not immune to the rising cost of doing business,” said Kurt Danielson, president, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions.

“We are particularly impacted by intense supply pressures and escalating raw materials, making this increase necessary at this time.”

This Bridgestone's second double-digit price increase this year on these products. The firm raised prices on truck tyres in the US on Feb. 1 by 12 percent and on OTR products in the U.S and Canada on March 1, also by 12 percent.
