Beijing -- China's rubber industry suffered in the first five months of 2011 following a slowdown in the automotive sector, but the decline in the auto industry has now stabilised, according to the country's official rubber body, the China Rubber Industry Association (CRIA). Tyre exports, however, hit a new record high.
The CRIA gathered production data for the first five months of the year from 395 member companies which showed an increase in economic activity of around 20 percent in comparison with a year ago.
Overall tyre production increased by 2.44 percent, based on reports from 44 companies. Radial tyre production increased by 6.11 percent, all-steel radial tyre production increased by 3.94 percent , the rate of 86.18 percent radial, up 2.98 percentage points. Sales revenue grew 21.80 percent, the export delivery value of the tyre up 33.03 percent.
