ETRMA publishes annual report

Brussels - Under the title, It's all about competitiveness, the ETRMA (European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers' Association ) has published its annual report of activities.
The report says the EU produced 4.5 million tonnes of tyres in 2010, up by 25 percent on 2009. The EU also produced 2.3 million tonnes of non-tyre rubber goods in 2010, up by 28 percent on 2009.
The group also outlined its activities over the last year under headings such as:
- Section 1 - Competitiveness
- Market surveillance
- Market access and trade policy
- International harmonisation
- Raw materials
- Section 2 - Health & environment
- REACH
- Nanomaterials
- Classification and labelling
- IT reporting tools with vehicle manufacturers
- Emission Trading Scheme
- General rubber goods applications
- Section 3 - Safe & sustainable transport
- Sustainable transport by 2050
- Consumers better informed on tyre environmental and safety performances
- Proper use of tyres to increase safety
- Better tyre checks during periodic technical inspections
- Section 4 - End-of-life tyres (ELT)
- European ELT producer responsibility
- End of waste status for ELT derived products
- ELT related standardisation
- Fight against fraud
