Glove company comments on price of natural and synthetic rubber
ERJ staff report (DS)
Michigan -- A US glove distributor has written a commentary on the price of different types of rubber used in glove manufacture.
Gloves By Web, a high volume distributor of High Five Gloves and Products and Ammex Gloves in the Michigan region, said, "Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) now constitutes 68 percent of total synthetic rubber consumption worldwide. By comparison, in 2005 synthetic rubber consumption was 44 percent. As the demand for NBR has soared, a large percentage of this increase is attributed to the production of NBR (nitrile) gloves. Roughly 60 percent of the material used to make nitrile gloves is butadiene."
