IRSG issues strategic review in wake of US, Thai departures
ERJ staff report (DS)
Singapore -- The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) is held a strategic review in Singapore during 11th - 15th July 2011, at a meeting of its heads of delegation (HoD).
IRSG said The Governments of USA and Thailand both left the IRSG on 1st July 2011. The IRSG also adopted a new constitution.
The statement said, "Several international rubber organisations currently interact with IRSG, including ANRPC, IISRP, International Rubber Association, International Rubber Consortium and IRRDB. Member Governments and industry support co-operation between these bodies and IRSG. IRSG aims to minimise any potential overlap, and intends to strengthen interactions going forward by seeking out areas of joint activity where IRSG's strength on the downstream and consumer side can add value for the good of the global rubber community. Coordination is essential and this should be facilitated by the fact that India is now in the Chair of both IRSG and ANRPC."
The IRSG will hold its first “Rubber Week†World Rubber Summit in Singapore during May 2012. The aim of this event is to create a discussion platform for the global rubber industry which will bring together the natural rubber, synthetic rubber, downstream, trader and financial sectors into a single forum where the major issues affecting the global rubber industry going forward will be openly discussed.
