DuPont to reveal new 2-K moulding technology at Fakuma
ERJ staff report (DS)
Geneva, Switzerland -- DuPont's exhibit at Fakuma (18 through 22 October 2011) will feature one of the first commercial applications using licensed 2K moulding technology. The application involves Vamac (AEM elastomer) over-moulded onto Zytel polyamide resins.
Du Pont said the same technology can be used with DuPont's Viton FKM elastomer and other elastomers.
The specific application on show will be an integrated electronic connector gasket from Dana Corporation. In what is described by the cooperation partners as “a world firstâ€, the robust sealing surfaces of the seal made of Vamac AEM is robustly bonded to the gasket body of Zytel, without the use of primers, to provide long term heat and oil resistance, and elimination of leak paths.
