Jyco enters new market for profiles - horticulture
ERJ staff report (DS)
Ann Arbor, Michigan -- Jyco Sealing Technologies is developing new products for the horticultural market. This week the Michigan-based company, which pioneered the use of TPV-based profiles for the automotive segment, announced a considerably more down-to-earth product line: ECO-Edging decorative landscape borders.
The company uses process scrap to make the new product range and sells it to gardening enthusiasts. “We reclaim scrap from other Jyco production lines, which reduces our own landfill use to next to nil,†explains McGovern. “Then we make our impact less than zero by removing landfill-bound garbage from the broader American waste stream.â€
The border profiles include a hollow, flexible cylinder, or bulb at the top of the product, which can be used as an irrigation system. ECO-Edging is the first horticultural product offered by Jyco. Discussions with retailers are already underway, and company officials anticipate the product being widely available to consumers and contractors by Spring 2012.
