Global tyre markets returning to trendline - Michelin

Paris -- Michelin has updated its website with a regional breakdown of the growth in the global tyre industry.
The site still only gives percentage changes from a year ago, but the data shows continued growth. Data is given for June, and for the year to date, which covers the first six months of 2011.
In truck tyre markets, Europe's growth of 60.6 percent in the OE market in the year to date eased in June with growth of 24.1 percent. On the replacement side, growth in the first six months of 18.0 percent eased to just 2.0 percent in June.
In the Americas, North American OE markets rose by 65.9 percent in the year to date and the growth pace was maintained with growth of 65.8 percent in the month of June. Replacement sales were up by 14.2 percent in the year to date but June June sales reversed May's decline, with growth of 4.7 percent.. In Brazil, OE sales rose by 22.8 percent in the first six months, and the growth rate continued at 24.3 percent in June, while replacement sales were up by 19.0 percent in the year to date and by 10.1 percent in June.
Michelin did not report sales outside these countries.
In car tyre markets, Europe showed growth of 8.4 percent in the OE market for the first six months, slowing to 0.4 percent in June. On the replacement side, growth in the year to date was 9.4 percent, slowing to a rate of 0.3 percent in June.
In the Americas, North American OE markets rose by 5.2 percent in the year to date but reversed to a decline of 3.0 percent in June, while replacement sales were up by just 0.9 percent in the year to date, but down by 1.0 percent growth in June. In Brazil, OE sales rose by 7.6 percent in the year to date which was maintained with growth of 8.9 percent in the most recent month, while replacement sales were up by 7.0 percent over the six months and by 3.0 percent in June.
Michelin did not report sales outside these countries.
