ERJ staff report (LMH)
Nokia, Finland - The Vianor tyre chain owned by Nokian Tyres is celebrating the opening of its 800th outlet in Montebelluna, Italy.
The outlet, which opened on 27 July 2011, is Vianor's first in Italy. Vianor gained a foothold in the Italian market thanks to a master franchise agreement with Centro Gomme SpA, Nokian said in a 3 Aug statement. In Italy, the sales network will be actively expanded, particularly in regions that have winter conditions and winter tyre recommendations.
Nokian said the Italian winter tyre market has grown rapidly, and there is great demand for winter products therefore the Finnish company sees the expansion of Italian distribution channels as “a natural step forward.â€
The mountainous regions of northern Italy feature snowy conditions and call for winter tyres that function reliably even in extreme weather. Vianor's presence in Italy efficiently enables Nokian to offer its winter tyres in these regions. The company intends to develop its sales outlet network to cover all of northern Italy, Olli Nuutila, Nokian Tyres business manager said.
Vianor's flagship outlet in Montebelluna, situated50 kilometres northwest of Venice, will feature several mounting stations and also offers car servicing and tyre hotel services with nearly 800 sets of tyres already accommodated at the premises.
