Luxembourg makes winter tyres a legal requirement
ERJ staff report (DS)
Luxembourg -- From 1 October 2012, Luxembourg police will be able impose a fine of up to euro 74 for any driver caught without Winter tyres when conditions require them.
The 29 July ruling applies to all vehicles except mopeds, tractors and special vehicles, and specifiies tyres marked with the M+S marking. They must be used in wintry weather conditions (ice, packed snow, slush, patches of ice or frost).
The new rule applies to all drivers who use the national road network regardless of the country of registration of vehicle they drive. It does not, however, apply to parked vehicles.
