US Tire Society to hold 2012 meeting with ITEC
ERJ staff report (TB)
Akron, Ohio -- The Tire Society plans to hold its 2012 annual conference on tyre science and technology in conjunction with the International Tire Exhibition & Conference in Cleveland in mid-September.
Both events will take place at the International Exposition Centre in Cleveland. The Tire Society meeting will occur 18-19 Sept, and ITEC - sponsored by Tire Business and Akron-based sister publication Rubber & Plastics News (RPN) - will run 18-20 Sept.
“This is a great opportunity for tire professionals worldwide to come together in the same city at the same time and the same place for these important tyre industry events,†said Dale Moseley, 2011/2012 president of the Tire Society.
Mosley said the Tire Society executive committee and ITEC show management are working together to add an exhibits pavilion tailored to the Tire Society attendees' interests in research topics such as new measurement technologies, simulation, data management and visualisation.
“The agenda will provide time for attendees to walk through exhibits and see presentations covering the state of the art of tire technology, from tyre science research all the way through manufacturing, distribution, retreading and recycling,†he said.
David Zielasko - RPN publisher, Tire Business editor and publisher and a Crain Communications Inc. vice president - noted that during the past 30 years the Tire Society has brought scientists together annually to review new technology that can be applied to tyre analysis and design.
“These two conferences will include a mix of application-oriented presentations, scientific reviews and reports on scientific research,†he said. “By developing a stronger relationship with the Tire Society, we hope to create a unique tyre industry forum that will provide greater value to the attendees of both events.â€
Besides its annual conference, the Tire Society - which has members from throughout the world - publishes the peer-reviewed journal Tire Science & Technology on a quarterly basis.
ITEC, founded in 1994, is a biennial trade show and conference for the world's tire industry. Besides its focus on tyre manufacturing, ITEC in 2010 expanded to encompass all aspects of the tyre industry, from tyre design, development and manufacturing, to an expansive educational program for those involved in retail and commercial tyre distribution, the aftermarket, retreading, tyre recycling and reuse.
