Bridgestone tyre shortage - correction
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp has asked us to point out that its shortage of tyres to Japanese OE customers is not due to lack of availability of rubber, but due to limitations on production capacity. We are happy to clarify the mistake, which arose due to mis-reporting in the Japanese paper, the Nikkei.
On 30 August we wrote, "
A spokesman for Bridgestone said there is likely to be a shortage of several hundred thousand units in the months from July to December 2011 for OEM customers in Japan.
"The company did not recognise the figures of 500 000 units and 5 percent of order volume quoted by a journalist in the Japanese business daily, Nikkei."
