Michelin releases July tyre sales data

Paris -- Michelin has updated its website with a regional breakdown of the growth in the global tyre industry.
The site still only gives percentage changes from a year ago, but the data shows continued growth. Data is given for July, and for the year to date, which covers the first seven months of 2011.
In truck tyre markets, Europe's growth in the OE market is starting to ease, with growth in the year to date of of 56.5 percent, though year-on-year growth in July was lower, at 32.8 percent. On the replacement side, growth in the first seven months of 15.1 percent reversed, with markets showing a decline of 0.3 percent in July.
In the Americas, North American OE truck tyre markets rose by 60.1 percent in the year to date but the pace of growth eased with growth of 40.5 percent in the month of July. Replacement sales were up by 11.1 percent in the year to date but the decline of the last few months continued into July with a decline of 5.7 percent.. In Brazil, OE sales rose by 21.0 percent in the first seven months, and the growth rate slowed to 11.1 percent in July, while replacement sales were up by 14.8 percent in the year to date but down by 5.8 percent in July.
Michelin did not report sales outside these countries.
In car tyre markets, Europe showed growth of 7.9 percent in the OE market for the first seven months, slowing to 4.5 percent in July. On the replacement side, growth in the year to date was 9.1 percent, easing to growth of 4.8 percent in July.
In the Americas, North American OE markets rose by 5.1 percent in the year to date and by 4.0 percent in July, while replacement sales were down by 0.6 percent in the year to date, but down by 9.2 percent growth in July. In Brazil, OE sales rose by 7.9 percent in the year to date which was maintained with growth of 9.6 percent in the most recent month, while replacement sales were up by 4.9 percent over the seven months and by 5.0 percent in July.
Michelin did not report sales outside these countries.
