Honda recalls Malaysian models over power steering hoses

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia -- Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.has issued a recall of 16,000 Civic model cars cars over potential failures of power steering hoses. Honda told owners of Civic 2006 year-model (YM) that some uits had experienced oil leakage from the power steering feed hose, caused by deterioration from running in hot and humid weather.
Honda said, "Though the affected units may not cause serious safety issues, the possibility of a technical breakdown might show in the future. Honda Malaysia will change the rubber material for the power steering feed hose to improve its heat resistance. The campaign expects to involve 16,537 units of Civic 2006YM-2008YM."
In the same recall notice other vehicles were recalled for other defects unrelated to rubber.
