Avon receives additional $19m order from US DoD for M50 gas mask
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Melksham, UK -- Avon has received a further order under its existing 10 year contract with the US Department of Defence for the supply of M50 JSGPM masks.
The contract is valued at approximately $19 million (Euro 14 million). Delivery is due in the company's 2012 financial year.
The award is in addition to the 100 000 mask systems per annum Avon currently supplies under the fixed portion of the full rate production contract.
Avon has already delivered over 600 000 mask systems to the DoD under this contract. The M50 JSGPM mask will in time replace all existing masks within the four services of the US armed forces.
Commenting on the news, Peter Slabbert, Avon CEO said: “This award demonstrates the accelerating demand for our world leading product and gives us excellent revenue visibility against this contract for 2012.''
Avon will release its preliminary statement in respect of the year ending 30 Sept 2011 on 23 Nov 2011.
