ERJ staff report (DS)
Evry, France -- Synthos SA has taken a euro 1.4 million investment in bio-butadiene producer, Global Bioenergies. The stake represents 3.6 percent of the share capital of the biotech firm.
In July of this year the two companies announced a strategic partnership to develop butadiene materials from biological sources. GB already has a bio-based process for making isoutanol, and has said its second strategic aim is to develop butadiene.
under the terms of that agreement, GB was responsible foe developing the organisms, while Synthos was responsible for the process. The new cash injection to GB will be used to help research into the micro-organisms required to make bio-butadiene.
