Rubber prices plunged overnight

London -- Rubber prices in Tokyo, Singapore and Shanghai fell sharply overnight, to well below $5.00 round the world. On Tokyo's Tocom Exchange, prices for the six-month contract plunged overnight, closing at yen 338 ($4.43) per kg on Thursday 22 Sept., 15 yen lower than yesterday. Shorter-dated prices fell just sharply, losing yen 13 to close at yen 327.
In Singapore, SGX saw little trading in RSS3, but October 2011 contracts closed down $0.04 at $4.56. TSR20 for delivery in February 2012 was down $0.14 at $4.41.
In India, the NMCE said prices were slightly higher than yesterday, with October deliveries priced at Rs 218 ($4.39).
In China, the Shanghai Futures Exchange saw prices plunge to finish well below $5.00, with October deliveries closing at Yuan 31.1 ($4.87) per kilo
